British 1804 Pattern Naval Boarding Cutlass
A rare original British Royal Navy figure-of-eight 1804 pattern boarding cutlass with original leather scabbard.
The 1804 pattern cutlass was the first regulation pattern cutlass to be introduced by the Royal Navy and saw service during the Napoleonic Wars and the Battle of Trafalgar.
This example has a 29 ½ inch (74.8cm) blade with a crown G.R cypher and a crown over 8 proof stamp, spine with maker details of Joseph H. Reddell & Co.
Cutlass has pitting to hilt patches of dark staining on the blade.
Hilt and blade are solid.
Complete with original Board of Ordnance marked black leather scabbard.
This is a very good example of a rare hard to find 1804 cutlass with it original scabbard.
