Jodhpur Kukri

A rare Jodhpur Kukri with a 13 ½ inch (33.3cm) blued steel blade, alloy hilt stamped 'FG 726' and original side opening scabbard.

Blade has some patches of light pitting but remains undamaged, scabbard is also good with no damage.

18 ½ inches overall length.

See pages 194-196 of Ron Flook´s book British and Commonwealth Military Knives.

This Kukri is believed to date from world war one and is unusual in that it has an alloy hilt. These are reputed to have been made for a regiment of troops raised by the Maharaja of Jodhpur. The blades of these Kukris have a different profile to that found on more traditional examples, and some variations do exist between examples: some have blued blades, some are stamped with the crest, others have no blade notch, and some are stamped with a serial number. The sheath that accompanies this pattern is also some what unusual in that it is designed so that the knife is withdrawn from the side. Blade length 13.5 inches; overall length 18.25 inches.
