This truncheon is an example of that which was utilised by the Royal Ulster Constabulary (RUC) from mid 1920's until the late 1960's. This pattern was also issued to the RIC Reserve Force which was utilised to reinforce the RIC in any area of Ireland where extra men were required. Only those over 6 foot tall, of a good physic & with a good record would have been selected for the Reserve Force.
