This is a good example of a 1889 pattern British navel seaman's cutlass with an 28 inch (75cm) straight flat steel blade, half basket hilt with turned down edges and ribbed iron grip.
The underside of the guard is stamped with the Enfield inspection stamp, War Department '⩚W.D' and the Royal Navy 'N' stamp.
The blade ricasso is also stamped '⩚W.D' and other proof stamps.
In good solid condition with some patches of staining to blade.
