7th Battalion The Cheshire Regiment P1907 SMLE Bayonet
A British P1907 bayonet regimentally stamped on the pommel '7 CH.R' for the 7th Battalion the Cheshire Regiment.
The 7th Battalion, Cheshire Regiment was a Territorial Force unit formed in 1908 with its headquarters in Macclesfield, drawing men from across Cheshire including Congleton and Winsford. During World War I, they served in Gallipoli, Egypt, and France. In World War II, they acted as a support battalion, serving in Italy and fighting in actions such as the Anzio campaign.
The bayonet has a 17 inch (43cm) stamped at the ricasso with a Crown G.R over '1907' and numerous other inspection stamps.
