American Civil War Starr Single Action Army Revolver

An early production American civil war Starr model 1863 percussion 6 shot .44 single action army revolver with low serial number '24420' stamped on the cylinder and the frame.

The large frame revolve is stamped on one side 'Starr Arms .co. New York' and the opposite side 'Stars Patent Jan .16 .1856'.

8 inch sighted barrel, one piece walnut grips and underleaver rammer.

The US government had a contract for 25,000 of these revolvers to be made during the American Civil war of 1861 – 1865.

Working action with hammer holding half and full cock, cylinder indexes correctly and locks on full cock but doesn't lock when released.

Bore is good with just some light pitting.

NB As an antique percussion revolver no licence is required to own this item in the UK if retained as a part of a collection or display.
