British P1907 SMLE Bayonet Regimentally marked to D Company the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry
A British P1907 SMLE bayonet regimentally stamped on the pommel 'OX. D.' for D Company the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry (the "Ox and Bucks").
D Company, 2nd Battalion of the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry (the "Ox and Bucks") executed a famous glider coup de main assault codenamed Operation Deadstick on June 6, 1944, capturing Pegasus Bridge intact in the opening moments of D-Day.
The bayonet has a 17 inch (43cm) stamped at the ricasso with a Crown G.R over '1907' and numerous other inspection stamps including date stamps for 1917 and later issue dates of 1935 an 1939.
Complete with brown leather scabbard.
