Lee Metford MK2 Bayonet for the 4th Volunteer Battalion West Riding Regiment

A MK2 British Lee Metford bayonet stamped on the pommel V 4. W.RID for the 4th Volunteer Battalion West Riding Regiment.

The 4th Volunteer Battalion, West Riding Regiment (later the 4th Battalion, Duke of Wellington's Regiment) was an infantry unit of the British Army's Territorial Force. Headquartered in Halifax, it saw heavy action during the First World War in France and Flanders as part of the 49th (West Riding) Division.

The bayonet has a 12 inch (30.3cm) blade stamped at the ricasso with a V.R Crown, '10 - 01' for the issue date of October 1901. The other side has the War Department broad arrow and 'EFD' (Enfield).

Complete with it's original black leather scabbard.
