WWI P1907 SMLE Bayonet The 4th Battalion, Wiltshire Regiment

A British P1907 bayonet for the SMLE rifle, regimentally stamped on the pommel '4. WILTS' for the The 4th Battalion, Wiltshire Regiment.

The 4th Battalion, Wiltshire Regiment has a rich and distinguished history, serving in key conflicts from World War I to World War II. Originally part of the Territorial Army, the battalion played a crucial role in defending Britain and fighting in major campaigns across Europe, including the Battle for Normandy.

The bayonet has a 17 inch (43cm) clean blade stamped at the ricasso with a crown over 1907, '1 - 16' for the issue date of January 1916 and the makers name 'SANDERSON'. The other side has the War Department broad arrow and several inspection stamps.

Complete with black leather scabbard.

Condition is good with a clean straight blade with just a small area of staining near tip, some light pitting to pommel and some loss of finish to wooden grips.
