WWI Seaforth highlanders Canada P1907 SMLE Bayonet

A 1917 dated P1907 bayonet by Chapman, regimentally stamped to the pommel 'S H C ' for the Seaforth highlanders Canada.

In 1917, the Seaforth Highlanders of Canada were active through the 72nd Battalion (CEF), which fought in France/Flanders as part of the 4th Canadian Division, and the 231st Battalion (CEF), which arrived in Britain in April 1917 to provide reinforcements. The 72nd Battalion was heavily involved in major 1917 actions, including the Battle of Vimy Ridge and Passchendaele.

The bayonet has a 17 inch (43cm) blade stamped at the ricasso with a crown over '1907', '0 – 17' for September 1917 and the makers name "CHAPMAN" the other side has the War Department broad arrow and several inspection stamps.

Complete with black leather scabbard and canvas frog.
