18th Hussars 1821 Cavalry Officers Sword by Wilkinson
A Victorian 1821 pattern 18th Hussars 1821 Cavalry Officers Sword stamped with Wilkinson serial number '26294' dating it to 1885.
The sword has the 1821pattern regulation three bar hilt and fishskin grips bound with silver twist wire. The 35 inch sword blade is in excellent condition with etched panels showing; 18th Hussars Regimental Badge with battle honours, crown VR cypher and maker details of Henry Wilkinson Pall Mall London.
The serial number is stamped on the top or the blade and can be researched to the Hussars officer who originally purchased it in the 1880s.
I have not personally done any research on this sword but have been informed by the previous owner that the sword did belong to a Captain in the 18th Hussars.
I am sure whoever buys this sword will enjoy doing their owe research.
Very good condition with some wear to grips.
Complete with original steel scabbard.
