A set of leading (come along) handcuff by Hiatt of Birmingham
This type of cuff was used to control prisoners rather than just to restraint them, the smaller open end cuff would be locked on to the prisoner’s wrist whilst the larger end would be used by the officer to manipulate and inflict pain by twisting.
Used by British Police and H.M Prison Officers from the1890s up until the 1950s. Stamped 'Hiatt Steel' and No '71'
