An early lead weighted, British Police wooden Pocket Rattle.
This is the smaller type rattle used in the early years of British policing (before the whistle was introduced) with fixed handle and weighted plugs of lead to help the rattle swing easily and also to be used as a weapon if needed.
6 inches across, 6 ½ inches from top to bottom of the handle.
