Wolverhampton Police Leading Handcuff A set of Late 19th century leading (come along) handcuff marked to 'Wolverhampton Police'.
This type of cuff was used to control prisoners rather than just to restraint them, the smaller open end cuff would be locked on to the prisoner’s wrist whilst the larger end would be used by the officer to manipulate and inflict pain by twisting. Used by British Police and H.M Prison Officers up until the 1950s.
