This is a 1970s 12 ¾ inch truncheon known as a 'Stout',
The London Metropolitan Police officially called this pattern 'No. 2 Truncheon'.
These truncheons would have been issued to C.I.D & higher ranks also police working in plain clothes would have been issued with this pattern as it was easier to carry concealed whilst working plain clothes duty.
This one is turned from the West African hardwood Bubinga,( this hardwood is now on the Cites listing; it is a protected wood).
